Linda Jean's Story
When I graduated from IRJC (as it was then), I went to U of F to finish my education. Not!! I met my husband Charlie the first weekend I was there and after 2 quarters at Florida, I left to marry him and moved to Tennessee. He had graduated and was hired by TVA, which put us in the TVA geography. We lived in Chattanooga and Johnson City.
After 2 more colleges in Tennessee, which had me up to a total of 4, I finally graduated with a degree in English (not that you can tell it by how I write now, LOL) and we were transferred shortly thereafter to Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
This is where we sank our roots and had our 3 children . It has been a good place to live.
For me, it has had the arts that I thrive on and I found my connections in the quilting and dancing communities. ( Unlike Fort Pierce, this is a larger community called the Shoals and it is mad...Expand for more
e up of 4 larger towns sharing jobs, activities, etc. The Tennessee River divides the 2 counties comprising the Shoals.)
I was able to indulge my interests in the arts as our children became older. Before, I was too busy as fulltime volunteer, including 14 years as a LaLeche League leader. As this is a college community with a glut of teachers, I could not find a job when we moved here. I knew no one and had no connections.
This year, 2008, we are to finally become grandparents. I hope that we still have many years of energy and health to enjoy them and do things with them. I never dreamed I would be this age when I became a grandparent!!!
My friends here cannot believe me when I say I was very quiet and shy at school. Only my close friends back then saw a different side of me. I have become far more vocal and at times an activist in our community.
